Why I Started This Blog
I created this blog as a way to share my love of healthy cooking that also, (and frankly) most importantly, tastes absolutely delicious! All the foods on this blog contain completely whole foods plant based ingredients. This means I make them from unprocessed, plant based ingredients and do not include oil or refined sugars. Many of these recipes are gluten free (or have easy gluten free subs) and many are nut or soy free as well (or can easily be made so).
Why Cook And Eat This Way
When I was trying to come up with a name for the blog, my five year old daughter said, “Mommy, I love all your food because you put so much love into it.” Well, that just melted my heart and, not only was it a sweet statement, but it’s also true! I mean, it’s true that the reason I cook this way is that I love my family so much and I want all of them (including myself) to be as healthy as possible and to live long, healthy lives. Especially after my husband was diagnosed with diabetes, cooking healthy foods like this is a way of taking care of him. But, as a person who truly loves food and loves to eat, I cannot deal with the kind of bland, boring recipes that people might typically find when they start trying to eat healthier.
It’s important to me that everything I serve my family tastes not just good, but great! It truly made my day when my husband (a former cheeseburger enthusiast) said, “I really love how the food we are eating is so healthy, but actually tastes just as good as the food we used to eat.” (Yes, he is a very smart man.) I hope you enjoy this food as much as we do and know that when you eat these recipes, you are nourishing your body, helping the planet, and reducing cruelty to animals all at the same time. What could be better than that?
